Nia® is a sensory based fitness and lifestyle practice.  Through expressive movement—The Body’s Way—Nia® empowers people to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.  This non-impact fitness form combines elements from dance (modern dance, jazz dance, and Duncan dance), the martial arts (Taekwondo, T’ai chi, and Aikido) and the healing arts (yoga, the Alexander Technique and the work of Moshe Feldenkrais) and blends them into a high energy workout that will strengthen your body and feed your spirit.  Nia® is adaptable to all fitness levels.  Join our Nia® certified Black Belt instructor, Julie, for this exhilarating fusion fitness experience.

Classes Back in Session!

We are almost through the first week of classes in this session and it has definitely been a crazy one.  Between processing registrations, teaching class, and answering both students' and instructors' questions, I am beat (my fellow WIM owners have even more work to do than me!).  It is very exciting to me, because although my brain feels like it is going to explode, I am starting to feel that we can really make the studio successful.  It is going to take a lot of work and effort, but everyday we make connections with creative and supportive people who are nothing but encouraging.  Doing work for the studio really makes me appreciate every single student who comes to class and has taught me a lot about going with the flow.  Things aren't always going to according to plan, but so far the results from these changes have turned out to be better.

Okay, I'll stop babbling about my sappy feeling about the studio.  But seriously, thank you for reading this blog and thank you for being so supportive of our efforts.  It means the world (no pun or wordplay intended) to me.

Grand Opening!

WOW.  That is all I can say about our Grand Opening.  It was so much fun and we had such a wonderful turnout for both the mini-workshops and the performance.  Every instructor did a fabulous job and the feedback we received about the lessons was very positive.  I am very sorry if you missed it because it just seemed like all of the stars aligned to make the day so successful and fun.  As an owner, I was busy all day long, but I did get to take Yashmin's Zumba class and it was some of the most fun I've had dancing in a long time; I cannot recommend it enough!  My BellyGroove demonstrations were quite a hit too, if I do say so myself :)  Overall, the event gave me the hope that we might just be able to pull this whole studio thing off!  What we have to offer is valuable and it showed to everyone who attended.

Dancing up a storm in Yashmin's Zumba demo!

Now that the Grand Opening celebration has come and gone, it is time for classes to start!  Of course, we had to cancel Monday and Tuesday because of the dang winter weather :(  Nevertheless, this session is going to be wonderful and there is still time to sign up for classes!  We need your support to make this venture a success and I guarantee you that you will not find a better class experience in the area.
